Review: Fun Factory Tiger G5

Sometimes, I’m 99.9% sure I’m going to adore a vibrator even before I have it in my hands.  The Fun Factory Tiger G5 was one of those.  I’m already a Fun Factory fan, and the G5 versions of their toys promised to be even better than the G4 motor that I know and love.  With Patchy Paul and the Big Boss already in my collection, I wanted to give the curved and textured Tiger a shot.

Big Boss, Patchy Paul and Tiger G5

The Fun Factory Tiger G5 is a rumbly, ridgy beast.  Of the three rechargeable Fun Factory vibes I own, it has the most noticeable (and to me, the most enjoyable) texture.  Fun Factory’s silicone has much more drag than most velvety smooth luxury vibes, so texture lovers will probably need extra lube to appreciate the Tiger’s ridges.  The silicone coating is also thicker than on many other silicone vibes, so there’s more give and flexibility than a silicone-coated hard plastic shaft.

The two biggest changes between the G4 and G5 vibes are the strength of the motor and the controls.   Obviously, vibration strength is the primary concern.  While I liked the G4 vibes, I found that the rumbly vibration didn’t carry through the silicone of the vibe’s shaft as well as I’d like.  The Tiger G5 has much more intense vibe that carries better down to the tip, and delivers deeper stimulation when used internally.   The vibration is still most noticeable around the middle of the shaft, but the tip gets enough power to rumble my G-spot and/or A-spot (depending on the depth and angle of thrust).

As there is no standardized unit of measurement for vibration strength, I think the best way to explain is this: I am seriously considering replacing my beloved Big Boss G4 because the difference is that noticeable.  And I say this despite the fact that the Big Boss is no longer available in that stunning orange color.  This is a true upgrade, not merely a minor boost.

The new buttons mirror the controls on the Stronic toys.  And while it’s not as impressive as the motor, I think it’s a significant improvement.  The buttons are more widely spaced, as well as easier to feel and press.  This relatively small change may not seem like anything to shout about, but as a reviewer who has seen her share of poorly designed controls, I appreciate it.  I didn’t need to read a manual to understand how the toy works, nor were any orgasms ruined by misbehaving buttons.   And having a big red “FUN” button to start a vibrator is genius, in my opinion.

Of course, I’ve always been a fan of the loop handles on Fun Factory vibes.  Not only are they easy to hold, they make lint-free drying extremely convenient.  Just remember to put them away before you have company…

If I could make one change to the Tiger G5‘s design, I’d make the nub at its base just a smidgeon bigger.  It doesn’t reach my clit unless I tilt the vibe just so, and getting the proper angle means less pressure on my A-spot from the curved tip.  Of course, I can always use it in tandem with a smaller clit vibe, but the convenience of having a solid dual stim vibe would be nice.

If you’re looking for a rumbly internal vibe that also brings texture to the table, The Fun Factory Tiger G5 gets my wholehearted recommendation.  If you’ve been on the fence about the Tiger, Big Boss or Patchy Paul in the past, this upgrade should be your cue to take another look.

Strength wise, how do you think this compares to the We-Vibe Rave.

It’s slightly stronger, with deeper vibrations.
